STAGE 1: SEATED

Rest the shaft of the wand across the thighs, holding the wand at each end.

Turn Right

Inhale

Raise the left tip of the wand diagonally to the right corner. Simultaneously, turn the trunk to the right. Finish with the left hand high over the right side, arm straight. As you do this, the right tip lowers to the rear of the right side of the body, the right arm straight.

Exhale

Reverse the movement, lowering the left tip of the wand diagonally across the body to the left, finishing with the shaft of the wand resting horizontally across the thighs again.

Turn Left

Perform the movements in mirror fashion, leading with the left side.

Repeat several times.

Consult the "important points" in exercise one regarding "moving in water".

STAGE 2: STANDING STATIC

Stand with feet at shoulder width and parallel, toes facing directly forward. Legs should be straight with knees slightly bent. You begin with the wand resting horizontally against your thighs, arms extended fully.

Perform the torso movements as in the seated stage while keeping the lower half of the body - including the hips - still. Only move the arms and torso.

STAGE 3: STANDING WITH FOOTWORK

METHOD: "SWIVEL ON THE BALL OF THE FOOT"

APPLICATION

Applying the footwork to the posture:-

Stand with feet at shoulder width and parallel, toes facing directly forward. Legs should be straight with Knees slightly bent.

Perform the torso movements as in the seated stage with these additional steps:-

When you lift the left tip of the wand to the right, swivel the left leg and foot to the right. When you lift the right tip of the wand to the left, swivel the right leg and foot to the left.
