STAGE 1: SEATED

Consult the "seated stage" notes in posture 1 regarding sitting / chairs.

Rest the wand horizontally on your thighs, hands lightly grasping either end.

RIGHT LEAD

Inhale

Lift your right arm (and so the right end the wand) in an arc high to the centre front of the body, and move it a little to the left. Simultaneously move the left hand over the thighs to the right, keeping the left hand close to the body. Finish with the left hand close to the groin to the right side.

Exhale

Return the right hand across the body in an arc, down to its original position. Simultaneously the left hand moves back to its original position so that the shaft of the wand lays across thighs again.

LEFT LEAD

Perform the above movements in mirror; with the left hand taking the lead.

Repeat several times.

Consult the "important points" in exercise one regarding "moving in water".
