4.1 INHALE: PREPARE TO DREDGE TO THE LEFT

Footwork

Transfer weight to the left foot and bring the right tip down to the rear so that the wand is horizontal, arm straight. Your left hand holding the left tip is in front of the groin. Lift your right foot and place it to the right of, and just in front of, the left foot, toes facing south-east. Transfer weight to the right foot.

Torso / Head

Turn your trunk to the left to face east.

Wand / Arms

Simultaneously guide the right tip up and to the south-west so that the arm is straight. Your left hand holding the left tip stays close to the groin. [Figure 40 ].

4.2 EXHALE: DREDGE TO THE LEFT

Footwork

Wand / Arms

Push the wand to the east with the right hand, loosening the grip with the left hand so that it moves from 'home' position to 'town'. Turn the left tip down. The right hand, holding the right tip, ends up about 30 centimetres in front of the throat, palm facing away from the body, the left hand is about the same distance in front of the left hip, palm facing south. The wand slants across the body to the left. The left tip about 12 centimetres beyond the left leg. [Figure 41].
